SNC-Lavalin signs agreement with Australian Future Energy

SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce that it has signed a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) agreement with Australian Future Energy Pty Ltd (AFE) for the development of AFE’s Gladstone Energy and Ammonia Project in Queensland, Australia.

Under the contract, the first of a three phase agreement, SNC-Lavalin will provide engineering and support services to produce a pre-feasibility report comprised of detailed engineering process packages for civil, mechanical electrical and civil works, environmental assessment and, project capital and operating costs.

The AUD$1 billion Gladstone Energy and Ammonia Project, located 15km north west of Gladstone, is a greenfield above-ground coal gasification facility designed to convert 1.5 million tonnes per annum of coal into ammonia, synthetic natural gas, and electrical power. The facilities will comprise of coal supply system, coal gasification plant, gas processing plant, ammonia processing plant, combined cycle gas power generation plant and utilities and ancillary infrastructure. The Gladstone Energy and Ammonia Project is expected to create over 1,000 jobs for the region.
